Reflective Log: The Importance of Research in Designing

For this task, my group had to research the book of Tintin on how its author did that. Like in the comic book he drew a ship from the early century so we guys first found out if the images he drew exists. For this activity, we all members of the group separated topics between all and did individual research on the given topics.

The name of the book is 'Secret of Unicorn' and the author's name is 'Hergé'. In this book, I researched the Marlinspike Hall and its room full of antiques. I got to know the names of various antique furniture, artworks and cultures. I found out that most of his inspirations were from the 16th-18th century timeperiod. I also found out that everything he made to create the context of something were present in reality or are the inspirations. So it tells that how much research he must have done in his living and his comic is proof of it. Everything which was written in the book Tintin The Complete Companion, chapter -11 were almost the same as what we found.

Research plays an important role in designing visuals because nothing can be creared without proper understand or creation of context. With research we find many factors which are required to completed according to the conditions and can add minor details of it. We also find out the trends, technology, culture, style, world events and other factors. These all factors are important for a design and need to found before making aything. This research also helps in achieving the perfect results by identifying corrrect protocols. Althought it might take time and effort to find but its worth doing and makes the work so easy.
