The project took a case-study approach to grow our awareness about the context of design.

Note to future self

Reflection on teamwork

There are benefits of working together as mentioned below -

  • We can group discuss any matter and can generate new and productive ideas quickly.

  • This makes the bonding among the group members and motivates them to work together.

  • If a suggestion given by a group member is not accepted by others then they can do health discussion and do necessary changes and improvements accordingly.

  • Each teammate helps each other by strengthening each other's weak spots.

  • Productivity and creativity increase when work is evenly divided.

  • It saves a lot of time compared to the time taken by an individual.

List of recommendations -

  • Never let yourself be always controlled by other members and give your viewpoints also.

  • Always try to help your teammates and take major responsibilities if others are not.

  • Always hear others, what are their thoughts on the task.

  • Don't split the work for everyone make sure to do everything together then what will be the meaning of the teamwork.

Reflection on the application of visual tools & techniques

In term 1 I learned how to draw the 3D flower in the 2D form and to use the isometric grid and all these things helped me to draw my object with all its microscopic details, proper light falling, symmetry and dimensions and also increased my observing power. Now I can show my design without actually making it.

Reflection on methods of inquiry

Examples of Primary Research - Ergonomic Study and Slice and Dice

Example of Secondary Research - For timeline and presentations

Self-reflection on own performance

Aspects that helped in my learning -

  • The Ergonomic Study - It basically taught me to make the object with proper usability and utility like its proper dimensions, functions, material, etc. so that the user gets what he needs.

  • User Object Association - It taught me how to extract the information by bonding with him and talking in general to get the required information.

Strengths I discovered about my learning -

  • I can now easily think about the new designs and ideas by making them on paper as well as by making live examples or 3D models with a lot of hard work.

  • I could now easily able to show my feeling through drawing even if it is wrong.

Key areas of improvement -

  • I struggled the most with my visual skills which I still trying my best to improve.

  • When I showed my timeline I still missed a lot of reasons/why that happened.

  • I need to improve my communication skills and vocabulary to interact with the users and ask questions without fear/panic.

I am doing the regular drawing practice to draw the 3D figure in 2D to exactly get that detailing and watching many English movies or animes to improve my communication skills and search by asking the questions related to it and getting correct details.

My biggest takeaway is how to create an ideal context for the user in any field of design.
